Taylor Made’s Cyber Security Breakfast was a great success on Wednesday 20th September.

Together with Coffin Mew Solicitors we organised a Cyber Security and GDPR breakfast seminar to educate businesses on cyber security.

To hammer home the message of just how easy it is to fall victim, a ransomware infection took place at the event.

The event on Wednesday, in association with Coffin Mew and backup and recovery experts Datto, provided practical tips and advice that IT managers and business leaders can implement straight away.

Speakers covered everything from GDPR, how businesses can protect their data to the legal implications of falling foul of data protection laws.

Matt Faulkner, technical director at Taylor Made, said:

“It’s only when you see first-hand how easy it is to be hacked that you realise how important it is to keep your data safe. This event will allow us to do just that in a safe environment and give local businesses the advice they need to protect themselves.”

According to Get Safe Online and Action Fraud, British businesses have seen a 22% increase in cyber incidents over the past year, with total reported losses of more than £1 billion.

Mark O’Halloran, Partner of Commercial Services at Coffin Mew, said:

“Hackers have four main reasons to launch a cyber-attack: stealing money, transaction fraud, commercial espionage and political activism (so-called hacktivism).

What constantly changes is the panoply of techniques and psychological insights they deploy and which businesses have to constantly keep pace with.

We felt that by combining our legal and IT expertise we could ensure that businesses in the South are up to date with the latest developments.”
