The accolade from industry bible MSPMentor also ranks Taylor Made 35th on its list of the world’s top 100 managed services providers – the business of outsourcing IT services, which has been a key driver behind the Fareham firm’s growth from a back-bedroom start-up to a company employing over 100 people.

Taylor Made’s high ranking places it alongside companies many times its size and turnover, makings its success all the more remarkable. The survey used a complex analysis of more than 480 businesses, including revenue per employee, number of devices managed and other categories to determine an authoritative list of the top 100.

Cams Hall based Taylor Made, familiar from its sports sponsorships and fleet of branded vehicles on the region’s roads, manages more than 6,000 devices for in excess of 250 companies accross the south.

MSPMentor said: “Overall, top managed service providers continue to generate double and triple-digit growth. The managed services trend has also accelerated in all of the major global markets, achieving critical mass in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia/New Zealand, while gaining momentum in Central and South America, and Africa.”

Taylor Made managing director Nigel Taylor said: “MSPMentor is the authority in all things managed services provider. All the key players watch them for trends and developments, so to be recognised by them really puts us amongst the front runners in the industry.”

“It is an incredibly fast moving sector and we have been working hard to ensure we stay at the cutting edge so our clients can take advantage of the latest technology in the business. This announcement makes it very clear we can compete and even beat the very biggest IT service providers.”

“Particular praise has been given to our out of hours service, not only for its quality and speed but also the way it has been structured to motivate the highly qualified Taylor Made support staff. Great quality staff and excellent retention has been a critical element in our success.”

In more than six years at the helm of the home of Hampshire Cricket, Glenn oversaw ambitious £45m expansion plans, which are now coming to fruition. He also drove the change from county ground to major international arena with Test status.

A relationship built up during its highly successful IT service contract with the landmark venue meant Taylor Made moved quickly to secure his services after he stepped down. The Cams Hall, Fareham, based firm has appointed Glenn as a consultant to help with the strategic development of the business.

Glenn said: “We’re putting together a strategic direction to drive us to where we want to be in 18 months. They have asked me to have a look at a number of different things, including contract structure and business processes.”

“The Rose Bowl was such a diverse role and I got so much experience there that Nigel thought I could bring it to bear at Taylor Made. We first met when I was new in post at the Rose Bowl and had significant IT infrastructure issues. Over the next six years that followed they never once let us down.”

“We want to be in the very top echelon of managed service providers in the UK and Taylor Made is already well positioned to achieve this. The goals are ambitious but realistic and I am tremendously excited to be helping achieve them.”

Taylor Made managing director Nigel Taylor said: “Glenn is a winner. He has a fantastic track record at the Rose Bowl, pushing through huge changes at every level of the organisation.”

“The fast pace of the IT industry means we are constantly having to adapt to stay ahead of the competition and Glenn’s experience is going to give us a significant advantage.”

To earn Premier Certification, Taylor Made has had to meet standards for networking, competency, service, support and customer satisfaction set forth by Cisco.

Nigel Taylor, Managing Director at Taylor Made commented: “We are extremely proud to have achieved Premier Certification from Cisco, further enhancing our networking and communications offering for businesses in the Solent region. We are now working towards achieving the Gold Certification before the summer.”

“Cisco is committed to providing tools, training and programs to help drive partner growth, differentiation and profitability,” said Surinder Brar, Senior Director of Worldwide channels at Cisco. “With a specialisation in Small Business, Taylor Made has made an investment in delivering the integrated and customised technology solutions today’s customers demand.”

As a Cisco Premier Certified Partner, Taylor Made demonstrates a range of technical expertise. To achieve Cisco Premier Certification Taylor Made was required to achieve the Cisco Express Foundation Specialisation. This specialisation includes tests on technical competency in the integration of routing and switching, wireless LANs, and security technologies. In addition, Taylor Made was required to integrate a base level of Cisco Lifecycle Services into their offerings and demonstrate measurably high levels of customer satisfaction based on independently audited customer satisfaction surveys.

The Cisco Resale Channel Program provides partners with the training required to build sales, technical and Cisco Lifecycle Services skills. Cisco resale partner certifications – Gold, Silver, Premier and Select – represent an increasing breadth of skills across key technologies and a partner’s ability to deliver integrated networking solutions. Cisco resale partner specialisations – Master, Advanced and Express – reflect an increasing depth of sales, technical and service expertise in particular technologies.

Rebranded ‘The Performance Academy’, the change in image and name is an exciting development for the company that started in 2005 as a division providing IT training for individuals and technicians, from businesses based in the Solent region, on the use of applications and technical systems.

Miles Henson and Philip Ferrar joined the division in 2008 after 3 successful years, and diversified the business pursuing a mantra of Developing People and Performance.

Using Thomas International’s PPA analysis tool as a method of helping clients understand how individuals in their organisations behave, communicate and interact with one another, their success really took the training division to great new heights.

Having won business from, and working with companies such as, Baxter Healthcare, CSL Behring, BMW, HSBC, Doosan and numerous Council and Government bodies, to name a few, The Performance Academy has had a great launch pad for its first year in business, and is on target to reach its stated aims.

The company, now trading as a stand alone company from Taylor Made, will continue to focus on delivering world-class people, team and corporate strategic development for both UK and international organisations.

Nigel Taylor, Managing Director of Taylor Made Computer Solutions, commented: “I am absolutely delighted that Phil and Miles have been able to take this division and make it into something literally world class. There is now no holding them back on the scope of what they can do, and who they will deal with, and I believe the rebranding really reflects the focus of this business both now and in the future.”

Miles Henson, the new Managing Director of The Performance Academy, added: “Taylor Made Training Solutions has given us the perfect platform to launch The Performance Academy from, and we now have the opportunity to build upon the excellent reputation that Taylor Made has.

In the current economic climate we passionately believe that now is the time for organisations to invest in their people, as they need to achieve more with less. Now is the time for businesses to invest in things that really matter, their people.

To say the excitement is palpable is an understatement as we move this business to an expanding arena. We will continue to work closely with Nigel and the team at Fareham, and are really looking forward to establishing The Performance Academy as a brand known for quality and delivery of results.”
