A couple of years ago whilst on holiday I stumbled across a great app, and I know there are plenty of great apps, just as there are videos clips on YouTube, however sometimes sorting the wheat from the chaff gets tiresome and the time loss finding them often outweighs the benefits of using them once found. Therefore when a good one is found I believe we are all duty bound to share the find and share the love!
My app love for the last 2 years is TED (and not the one in the film… although that is very funny!) This TED has a strap line of “Ideas Worth Spreading” and the concept of TED itself is therefore worth spreading.
It all started in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences — the TED Conference and TEDGlobal — TED includes the award-winning TED Talks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize.
TED conferences bring together the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes or less). These talks are then available to watch, to download and to share with others either by App (from the App Store at apple, Play Store for Android, Marketplace for Windows devices) or directly from their website at www.ted.com
There is a fabulous selection of interesting facts, figures, designs, ideas, thoughts (currently over 1,500 titles)
You can queue them up, create playlists, be inspired, or simply browse. Create an account and you can also track and share what you have seen. Try it…..and yes, it is ALL FREE!!!
