For my first Blog post I wanted to share some exciting news with you all.
On the 7th February 2015, I along with my Taylor Made colleague and good friend Scott Mills will attempt to climb the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa in aid of Taylor Made’s ‘Charity of the Year’, ‘Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance’.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance are a local charity and friends of Taylor Made, we provide their IT Infrastructure which enables them to continue saving lives around Hampshire and the Isle of Wight region. What many people don’t know about this charity is they receive no government funding whatsoever and depend on donations from people and businesses to continue saving 3 lives a day.
What is even more remarkable is that in order to continue flying and saving lives, the Air Ambulance must raise over £125,000 per month! A considerable amount as you will no doubt agree.
We must be crazy? Absolutely, but at the same time we can’t wait and we want to raise as much money for the charity as possible and have set ourselves a target of raising £7000 which will enable them to fly for 2 whole days and actually save 6 peoples lives in and around the Hampshire & Isle of Wight area.
How are we going to raise £7000? Throughout 2014 we will be putting ourselves through various events to train and raise awareness. Those events will be Glow in the Park, The Great South Run, Bupa London 10k, Walk the Wight, The Isle of Wight Challenge and the 3 Peaks Challenge plus many others along the way. The fundraising will be hard and we are constantly looking at ways to raise up to £630 a month.
As our training continues, I’ll keep you updated with our events and provide you with pictures but in the mean time, please show us your support by kindly sponsoring us via our JustGiving page HERE.
